<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anode for a fuel cell, a method of manufacturing the same and a fuel cell equipped therewith. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes a step of treating a carbon base compound with an acid; a step of washing the acid treated material with water and freeze-drying it; a step of dispersing the freeze-dried material in a solvent, applying dispersed material to a porous carbon support, and drying to form a microporous diffusion layer; and a step of forming a catalyst layer on the microporous diffusion layer. By using a fuel diffusion layer containing the microporous diffusion layer comprising the carbon base compound conducted with acid treatment and freeze-drying treatment, the anode efficiently increasing the diffusion of liquid fuel can be obtained.
