PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymeric gel composition containing a highly durable setting resin composition with no viscosity drop even in long-term use while maintaining polymeric gel's volume change property, and to provide a method for producing the polymeric gel composition, and to provide an optical device using the polymeric gel composition. SOLUTION: The polymeric gel composition comprises an excitation-responsive polymeric gel subject to volume change on absorbing or releasing a liquid and the setting resin composition for dispersing and setting the above polymeric gel, wherein the setting resin composition comprises a crosslinkable polymer≥100,000 in weight-average molecular weight and a crosslinking agent.
