PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit, method and program for permanent-magnet synchronous motor, capable of smoothly starting up the permanent-magnet synchronous motor used for driving the compressor of an on-vehicle air conditioner. SOLUTION: A synchronous operating current during starting is set according to a current limiting value obtained from a temperature of an inverter for supplying three-phase power to a permanent-magnet synchronous motor. This control unit for permanent-magnet synchronous motor updates the synchronous operating current using the output voltage or output current of the inverter monitored during stable rotation period after starting.
