PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boss member at the shaft end of which a uniform flat surface is securely formed. SOLUTION: The boss member 1 comprises a shaft part 2, a head part 3 integrated therewith and having a serration portion 9 whose diameter is larger than that of the shaft part 2, and a recessed part 7 in a grooved shape provided in the outer periphery of the shaft part 2 contacting the head part 3. At the end of the shaft part 2, a small shaft portion 4 in a straight shape is formed whose shaft diameter is smaller than that of the shaft part 2 and which has a flat end face. Between the shaft part 2 and the small shaft portion 4, a tapered portion 5 is formed. When a fastened material is placed on the boss member, the fastened material can contact the whole end face and the fastened material can be stably supported. When a board with electronic components arranged thereon is mounted, the board, if thin, can be fixed thereto with screws without being distorted and damaged. Furthermore, burrs or others are hardly produced at the shaft end and so damages are hardly caused on the fastened material. This eliminates the possibility of breaking the board.
