摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to an engine output and reduction in fuel consumption by efficiently agitating an air current in a combustion chamber while minimizing the blocking of an air current in an intake valve port, in an internal combustion engine in which one intake valve port and one exhaust valve port are formed on the ceiling face of the combustion chamber facing the top of a piston slidably fitted to a cylinder block, and an intake valve for opening and closing the intake valve port and the exhaust valve port for opening and closing the exhaust valve port are arranged in a cylinder head so as to have an approximately V shape and so as to be openable and closable. SOLUTION: An intake port 60 formed in the cylinder head 25 so as to continue to the intake valve port 47 comprises an upstream side passage 60a extending approximately linearly from the side face of the cylinder head 25 to the vicinity of the intake valve port 47 and a downstream side passage part 60b that is bent and connects the upstream side passage part 60a and the intake valve port 47 in a projection plan to a plane orthogonal to an axis line of the piston. The ceiling face 46 of the combustion chamber is formed to have a dome shape with an elliptic cross section in which a direction connecting the center of the intake valve port 47 with the center of the exhaust valve port 48 is an elliptic direction.
