A white, biaxially oriented polyester film comprises a base layer (B1) and at least one outer layer (A). The base layer (B1) comprises 3 - 15 wt.% of a whitening pigment, and the outer layer (A) comprises 2 - 15 wt.% of a whitening pigment and also 0.01 - 2 wt.% of an antiblocking agent whose median particle diameter (d50) is 2 - 8 mu m. An independent claim is included for production of the polyester film involving producing a multilayer film via co-extrusion; optionally, functionally coating or treating at least one surface of the film; biaxially stretching the film and heat-setting the stretched film.
