The method involves illuminating an object (1) by radiation of a laser, and detecting the object by radiation stimulation of fluorescence and/or reflection light. An area (2) is selected and each place within the contour of the area is illuminated by the radiation of a scanning spot. The places within the areas are represented in a field screen. The radiation impinging in the screen is spectrally separated and is detected. The local fluorescence and/or reflection signals are accumulated and are spectrometrically evaluated as a total signal. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for detection of fluorescence and/or reflection spectra of a selectable area and a structure of an object.
