Passive colour display device comprising a plurality of small cells (10) bounded by partitions (18) between two parallel plates or sheets of glass or polymer and containing dielectric particles of different types or different colours, these cells being equipped with display electrodes (24), between which particles of a given type can collect when a suitable electrical voltage is applied to these electrodes, and with storage electrodes (36a, 36b) for storing the particles in a direction perpendicular to the plates bounding the cells.
