<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording system which uses a thermal printer performing a temperature control on the basis of an accurate supposition of the temperature of the glaze of a thermal head so as to improve a printing quality and also to suppress a temperature fluctuation due to a pattern, and which can reduce a density variation on a middle period basis even when a high-speed processing is conducted. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer recording system uses the thermal printer which records an image on a thermal transfer image accepting sheet by driving each of heating elements provided in a line, on the basis of image data. The temperature fluctuation in line recording of the thermal head on the occasion when each line is recorded by the thermal printer is determined from the image data and the amount of heating of the thermal head is controlled so as to suppress this temperature fluctuation.
