<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical cell and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The electrochemical cell is composed of a first conductive layer, a metal oxide layer which is formed on the above first conductive layer and has a plurality of metal oxide cells neighboring to but separated from each other, a functional coloring matter layer formed on the above metal oxide layer, a second conductive layer and an electrolyte between the above coloring matter layer and the second conductive layer.
