PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a toner particle carrying roller capable of suitably suppressing retention of toner particles. SOLUTION: The toner particles carrying roller for carrying toner particles is provided with a flat bottom and a side face adjacent to the bottom and has a recessed part having roundness of which the radius of curvature is a half and more of a volume average grain size of a toner particle is formed on the surface of a boundary part between the bottom and the side face.
