PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink tank which has a simple constitution and can highly precisely and quantitatively detect an ink residual quantity at any time, and to provide a recorder. SOLUTION: The ink tank includes a tank case 2, an ink storage bag 4 partly fixed to the tank case 2 and deformed with the consumption of ink, a movable plate 5 which moves in a constant direction interlocking with the ink storage bag 4, a moving reflecting face 7 set at least in a part of the movable plate 5, and a fixed reflecting face 8 set at least in a part of the tank case 2.
