PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a terminal authentication method which efficiently carries out processing of terminal authentication computation in a short period of time. SOLUTION: A terminal 10 transmits a registration request to a base station A when a handover is performed. The registration request is received by a radio communication unit 101 in the base station A and outputted to a control unit 102. The control unit 102 directs a terminal authentication unit 103 to authenticate the terminal 10 on the basis of the inputted registration request. The terminal authentication unit 103 retrieves an authentication information cache memory 104 using the terminal number of the terminal 10 as a key, and searches registration information as to the terminal 10. When the terminal 10 is not registered, a request is made to the base station B as a handover end for registration information as to the terminal 10. When the terminal 10 is not registered in the base station B, the terminal 10 is authenticated in the base station A as usual. When the terminal 10 is registered in the base station B, the authentication of a terminal certificate sent from the terminal 10 is simplified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
