PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a header pipe adopting a structure capable of securing a necessary amount of brazing filler metal in a joining portion of a header pipe and a tube during brazing, and a heat exchanger provided with the header pipe. SOLUTION: The header pipe is comprised of a first recessed face 1a wherein a surface of a side wall 1A of the header pipe 1 to be inserted with an end of the tube 3, is bent inward as seen from a cross section of the header pipe 1. A second recessed face 1b is formed on an inner face of the side wall 1A of the header pipe 1, and a third recessed face 1d can be provided by providing groove parts 1c on inner face both end sides of the side wall 1A of the header pipe 1.
