PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel which simplifies the input of data accompanied with the measurement of a ling length. SOLUTION: This spinning reel is characterized by comprising a rotation-detecting means for detecting the rotation frequency and direction of a spool, a memorizing means, an operation means which is mounted in a reel body and selects the spool rotation frequency up to a prescribed winding diameter level related to a line kind memorized in the memorizing means, a calculation means, and a display for displaying the line length calculated with the calculation means. The memorizing means preliminarily memorizes a line length-calculating formula for calculating the line length and the spool rotation frequency for each line kind, when the line is wound up to a prescribed winding diameter level set to the maximum line winding diameter or less, and takes the total spool rotation frequency from a line-winding start to a total wound line length. The calculation means calculates a line length from the actual spinning spool rotation frequency detected with the rotation-detecting means on basis of the line length-calculating formula determined with the total spool rotation frequency up to the total wound line length and with the spool rotation frequency determined with the operation means.
