PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bumper device which certainly projects out a bumper from a vehicle body, securely fixes the bumper at a projecting position against rapid load change due to collision, and easily releasing the fixing if necessary. SOLUTION: The bumper device is provided with a shaft lock mechanism 25 which allows a shaft 24 to freely move in a projecting direction Fr of the bumper 11, locks the movement of the shaft due to a load in a returning direction Rr opposite to the projecting direction in regard to a side member 7 (a frame), and switches between a one-direction movement free state in which movement in one projecting direction is free, and a two-direction movement free state in which the movement of the shaft 24 in both projecting direction and returning direction is free.
