This equipment comprises: a cooling circuit for circulating a cooling liquid; a polyphase power supply; a pouring tube (4) fixed to the bottom of the pouring ladle around the draining opening in the latter; mounted around said pouring tube, an annular electromagnetic inductor (1) generating a rotating magnetic field, of the polyphase type, provided with a pair of poles per phase of said power supply to which it is connected, and each pole of which is formed by an electrical winding (10) wound in layers (20) around an inwardly projecting pole tooth (3) whilst having a lateral narrowing (11) in its terminal active face (9), the pole teeth being connected together at their other end by an external peripheral magnetic yoke (12) for closing the magnetic flux, and each electrical winding (10) of which incorporates a heat extractor, advantageously consisting of a flattened sealed annular tube (14) connected to the cooling circuit for internal circulation of cooling liquid; and, interposed between the pouring tube and the inductor, a hollow annular non-magnetic shield (15) for thermally shielding the inductor, cooled by internal circulation of cooling liquid by being connected to said cooling circuit. Implementing this equipment imparts an axial rotational movement to the stream of molten metal passing from the ladle to the tundish, resulting in tundish pouring under conditions favourable for obtaining satisfactory metallurgical quality of the solid metal after casting. |
