The present invention provides device and method for preparation of a graft and a fastener for coupling to a vessel, the device comprising a tubular body with a gripping head at a distal end to grip a graft and a fastener, wherein the graft is threaded through the fastener and wherein an edge of the graft emerges out of the fastener. The gripping head comprises at least three segments arranged around the axis of the head, wherein the segments can be brought closer or pushed away from each other to modify the external diameter of the gripping head and to provide for firm gripping of the fastener and the graft. The device further comprises a pliant tongue which may rotate around the tubular body of the device, wherein radial position of the pliant tongue may be controlled and wherein the pliant tongue may slide axially towards the gripping head or away from the gripping head.
