<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cap structure which can secure a required air-breathing level without depending on the external shape of a cap, even when no adequate interval between an outer cap and an inner cap can be secured, in employing an air breathing method by a dual structure of the cap of a writing utensil whose writing apex cannot help being comparatively wider. <P>SOLUTION: The cap 10 of the writing utensil comprises an outer cap 20 having a first air-breathing orifice 22 formed in the apex part and a first opening part 21 formed in the rear end part, a plurality of ribs 23 set protruding near the apex of the inner peripheral surface of the outer cap 20, a first spring 50 fitted inside the inner space surrounded by each rib 23, an inner cap plug 30 urged backward by the first spring 50 inside the inner space, a second spring 60 fitted with its one end supported by the rear edge of each rib 23, and a second opening part 41 which has a second breathing orifice 42, in the apex part, with which the inner cap plug 30 can be brought into contact tightly, and allows the apex part of a barrel 70 of the writing utensil to come into contact tightly with the part 41, in the rear end part.
