PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for compensating for malfunctioning nozzle of inkjet image forming apparatus which compensates a degradation of a print image due to the malfunctioning nozzle of inkjet image forming apparatus and can keep the print image improved. SOLUTION: The method for compensating for malfunctioning nozzle of inkjet image forming apparatus comprises a step 1100 for detecting a malfunctioning nozzle among nozzles installed in an inkjet image forming apparatus and a step 1110 for increasing a dithering threshold of an adjacent print position to a compensation position printed by the detected malfunctioning nozzle. As a result, when printing an image, the method enables the adjustment of a print position of the malfunctioning nozzle and a dithering threshold of an adjacent print position and performs a halftoning treatment and then prints the image, so as to prevent a degradation in print quality such as a white band which is easily recognized by the user on the printed image, and the malfunctioning nozzle is compensated and used, so as to lengthen the lifetime of the printhead.
