PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route providing method and a route providing server capable of generating route information indicating a route up to a destination, using maps prepared about district areas different individually and prepared in different forms each other. SOLUTION: The route providing server 5 receives the maps prepared about the different district areas from a map server 4 via a communication network 6, and joins together the received maps, based on reference points indicated in the maps. The route providing server 5 receives the destination in response to the present point of a mobile terminal 8 transmitted from the map server 4 and retrieved information input into the mobile terminal 8, and generates the route information (in concretely saying, the route information arrayed with the reference points in order along the route) indicating the route from the present position up to the destination, using the received present point and destination, and the joined map.
