PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article having 3D gathers with a substantially V-shaped cross-section, by which free portions can be prevented from falling down inward and menstrual blood can be securely prevented from leaking sideways by making the 3D gathers easily face outward. SOLUTION: The 3D gathers BS are formed into the cross-sectional shape having first free portions 12 facing outward in a width direction and second free portions 13 facing inward in a width direction continuously from the first free portions 12, in bonding the first free portions 12 and the second free portions 13 in front and rear portions of the napkin in a longitudinal direction, the inner side positions of the bonding portions are bonded with variety such that the bonding end position close to the inner side of the bonding width are positioned at front and rear end side positions of the napkin 1 compared to the bonding end position close to the outer side of the bonding width, the first free portions 12 are bonded to the front surface side of the napkin 1 at one or more positions in the middle position of the bonding besides the bonding in the front and rear positions in the longitudinal direction of the napkin 1.
