PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmitting and receiving apparatus which easily recognizes boundaries among packets without using redundant data. SOLUTION: When a multiple-unit control section 2 sequentially transmits a data sequence comprising packets PK by each single data item via a serial communication line 5, a non-communication interval INT whose time length is a reference time tr is provided to boundaries among the packets P, and when a device control section 6 sequentially receives the single data item via the serial communication line 5, the device control section 6 recognizes a reception interval to be the boundary between the packets PK if the reception interval by each single data item exceeds the reference time tr, and the device control section 6 segments the packets PK from the received data sequence.
