PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation angle detector which can be applied to detect a rotation angle within a range exceeding 360°even by a simple structure. SOLUTION: A worm wheel 10 is externally fitted on a steering shaft S. The worm wheel 10, a worm gear 11, and a guide screw shaft 12 constitute a feed screw mechanism which linearly moves the worm gear 11 in accordance with the rotation of the steering shaft S. Two cantilevers 13, 14 are provided so that they hold the worm gear 11 from its axial direction. Strain gauge elements 16, 17 are affixed to the cantilevers 13, 14, respectively.
