PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve gear for an internal combustion engine, increasing the degree of freedom in valve characteristics of a plurality of valves for opening/closing a cylinder which are disposed to one cylinder, compared with the related art. SOLUTION: The valve gear 11 for an engine 100 is constituted of a first cam 21 and a second cam 22 disposed to one camshaft 20 so as to drive and open/close intake valves 2 disposed to one cylinder 1, and a motor 12 driving the camshaft 20. In this case, the second cam 22 is rotatably disposed to the camshaft 20, and a motor control device 50 is disposed to control the operation of the motor 12 in a synchronous drive mode in which the second cam 22 drives and opens/closes the intake valves 2 at a first position P1 where a nose 22a of the second cam 22 and a nose 21a of the first cam 21 face in the same direction, or an asynchronous drive mode in which the second cam 22 drives and opens/closes the intake valves 2 at a second position P2 where the nose 22a of the second cam 22 and the nose 21a of the first cam 21 face in the different direction.
