PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize a lock mechanism for a sliding door having a simple structure with less fixtures. SOLUTION: The lock mechanism comprises; a door body 20 which is freely slidable in a horizontal direction; a gripping space 26 which is opened in the vertical direction; a lever handle 30 which extends along a vertical direction of the inside of the holding space by the substantially equal length to the gripping space and can be switched over between a locking position and a unlocking position by being moved on a horizontal plane; an unlocking releasing member 60 which is arranged between an upper face of the door body and an inner face of a guide rail 15, is mounted along a moving direction of the door body 20 so that it may be slidable, interlockingly with operation of the lever handle, and forms a releasing inclined face 62 at the front end in the sliding direction; a cover member 50 in which an opening end edge for passage of the lock releasing member 60 is formed to be a substantially perpendicular cover face 56 and the face on the other end edge is formed to be a chamfered cover edge 57; and a lock member 40 which forms an inclined locking face 44 protruding to form a chevron shape related to the upper face of the door body 20, and forms a substantially perpendicular face 47.
