<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for transmitting a signal capable of two-way communication between a stabilized power supply and a set part with a pair of signal lines, and to provide a liquid crystal projector using this. <P>SOLUTION: Switching of a transmission photo coupler 125 is controlled by a lighting confirming signal S1 transmitted from the first microcomputer 123 when lighting of an HID lamp 11 is normally controlled based on a lighting command transmitted from a second microcomputer 181 of the set part 18 to a first microcomputer 123 of the stabilized power supply part 12 through the signal lines L5, L6 and a reception photo coupler 126. An output signal of the transmission photo coupler 125 accompanying the switching control is transmitted to the second microcomputer 181 through the signal lines L5, L6.
