PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium which does not lose a variation effect of cast or color in a selective reflection layer, and has very high forgery-proofness with a capability of recording information whose genuineness can be judged using a tool. SOLUTION: This recording medium 1 has at least a light-selective reflection layer 3 which is a cholesteric liquid crystal layer and a black layer 4 laminated over each other, and is preferably in such a condition that the medium 1 has information recorded by breaking the black layer 4 by a heating means. In this recording medium 1, the black layer 4, as a ground, of an information recording part 5 disappears because the black layer 4 partially breaks down to be removed, so that the light selective reflection layer 3 is inconspicuous. On the other hand, since a non-recording part 6 has a remnant black layer 4, the former has the light selective reflection layer 3 with the black layer 4 as a ground, and therefore, its variation effect of the cast or color possessed by the light selective reflection layer 3 conspicuously appears.
