PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply formed and easily operable paper feeder by preventing paper from being suspended even if a hole for passing through side fences guiding the lateral side faces of paper is formed in a paper feed stand in a paper feeder in which a paper bundle is loaded on the liftable paper stand and paper is taken out one by one from the highest position of the bundle while raising the paper feed stand according to the remaining amount of the paper. SOLUTION: This paper feeder comprises an auxiliary plate installed in contact with the side fences, closing the portion of an opening along the side fences and capable of supporting the paper bundle. The auxiliary plate is moved together with the side fences and the paper feed stand while always coming into contact with the paper guide surface sides of the side fences according to the lateral movement of the side fences and the vertical movement of the paper feed stand.
