PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure positioning accuracy when assembling a stapler, and to facilitate exchange of the stapler when it is failed in a market to reduce costs. SOLUTION: In this staple unit fitting method, a casing of each of a stitcher and a clincher is used as a reference when positioning the staple unit, and first positioning in a direction in parallel with a guide shaft for guiding the staple unit is performed by fixing brackets 202 and 203 of each of the stitcher and the clincher through a connecting member 320. Second positioning when fitting the stitcher and the clincher to the fixing brackets 202 and 203 is performed in the only one direction of the paper sheet conveying direction with a positioning adjustment member, and the stitcher and the clincher are thereby fitted.
