PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device manufacturable in the atmosphere by using an organic light-emitting material. SOLUTION: The light emitting device is composed by stacking a lower electrode layer, an organic light-emitting layer and an upper transparent electrode layer in a light-emitting function region on a substrate. In the light emitting device, by forming an auxiliary electrode layer formed of nano-colloidal particles of a conductive metal on an interfacial surface between the lower electrode layer and the organic light-emitting layer, the lower electrode layer is smoothed, and light emission efficiency is enhanced. An effect similar to it can be provided by a structure where a transparent electrode layer is used as the lower electrode layer, and the organic light-emitting layer, the auxiliary electrode layer and the upper electrode layer are stacked on top of it. When glass is produced by a sol-gel method using metal alkoxide, and the light emitting device is sealed by the glass, light emission can further be sustained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
