The mounting of solar energy panels on a roof uses extruded aluminium section material. The mountings are in the form of cross rails [3] shaped to receive the panels. These cross rails are bolted onto the main rails [1] of the roof. The cross rail mountings [4] can be adjusted in slots in the main rail.
