A method for displaying a moon phase and a mobile terminal are provided to conveniently inform a user about a current lunar calendar date by informing the user about an incoming call or a message reception through a pre-set termination notification corresponding to a current moon phase. A memory unit(103) stores a moon phase. A display unit(102) displays the moon phase of the memory(103). A controller(104) controls the memory unit(103) and the display unit(102) to display the moon phase stored in the memory unit(103). The moon phase is one of a full moon, a waxing moon, a waning moon, the old moon, and a crescent moon.
