<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new lipase inhibitor capable of being obtained also from wastes after primary utilization, having strong lipase inhibiting activity and good taste, capable of continuously readily ingesting it and applicable to various dosage forms, particularly when the inhibitor is water-soluble, and foods and beverages using the inhibitor. <P>SOLUTION: The lipase inhibitor comprises an extract of chestnut shell.
