METHOD FOR APPLYING BONDING COAT AND HEAT INSULATING COATING OVER AN ALUMINIDED SURFACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying a bonding coat and heat insulating coating over an aluminided surface.

SOLUTION: The method for depositing a multi-layered film on a surface (44) of a nickel-base superalloy substrate (30) includes a step of depositing a diffusion aluminide coating (42) onto the substrate (30) by the vapor phase aluminiding method, and a step of roughening a surface of the diffusion aluminide coating (42). The method further includes a step of depositing by wire-arc spray a NiCrAIY bonding coat (48) overlying a roughened surface (46) of the diffusion aluminide coating (42) and contacting the roughened surface (46), and a step of applying a ceramic thermal barrier coating (50) overlying a bond coat (48) and contacting the bond coat (48).
