<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pinching detecting device for an automatic door, which can excellently detect pinching even if a detecting signal is affected by an event different from pinching. <P>SOLUTION: The pinching detecting device for the automatic door is formed of: a sensor section 1A arranged in an opening/closing device, for outputting a voltage signal according to an external force applied to the opening/closing device; a frequency detecting means 2 for detecting a frequency of the voltage signal; and a determining means 3 for determining that an object is pinched by the opening/closing device when the detected frequency is lower than a predetermined reference frequency. The pinching detecting device is comprised of a wave detecting means 4 for generating a wave detecting signal like an envelope curve from the voltage signa, and an inclination detecting means 5 for detecting an inclination of the wave detecting signal.
