<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation in S/N ratio of a received signal even when a number of channels are multiplexed or a short code period is set. <P>SOLUTION: A transmission section 100 includes: an optical pulse train generating section 102; a first channel coding optical pulse signal generating section 118; a second channel coding optical pulse signal generating section 120; a third channel coding optical pulse signal generating section 124; and a fourth channel coding optical pulse signal generating section 126, and second and fourth channels are respectively provided with a polarized wave control units 122, 128. The polarized wave control units execute a polarized wave control step wherein planes of polarization of first coded optical pulse signals 121, 127 of the second and fourth channels are rotated by 90 degrees. Through the execution of the polarized wave control step, directions of planes of polarization between adjacent channels of first decoded optical pulse signals generated in a reception section can also be made orthogonal to each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
