PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for measuring a position and indication direction capable of achieving easily-handleable position and indication direction measurement, even when the distance between a projection device and an image sensor is changed. SOLUTION: The system includes a projection device 12 for projecting concentric striped pattern light 11, imaging apparatus 13, 14 for imaging the striped pattern light projected from the projection device 12, and an operation device 15 for determining the position and the indication direction of the projection device 12 based on a stripe image acquired from the imaging apparatus 13, 14. The projection device 12 has a projection range variable mechanism for changing a projection range of the striped pattern light 11.
