<p>1297876 Lubricating change-speed gear CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 30 Jan 1970 [20 March 1969] 4663/70 Heading F2D [Also in Divisions G1 and G3] A liquid scavenging system includes a liquid level sensing and controlling device 31 which permits only liquid to be fed from an apparatus 27 through a line 41 to an ejector pump 21 and which comprises a spool 37 in a valve in the line biased to the valve open position and means 13, 11, 17, 15, 33 for producing and guiding a jet of liquid in the direction opposite to the bias, the jet being dissipated by liquid in the apparatus when the liquid level is high, so that the valve is biased open and liquid passes to the ejector pump, and when the liquid level is low, the jet impinges on the spool and moves it against the bias to close the valve thus preventing a mixture of air and liquid being sucked up by the ejector pump. The scavenging system is stated to be suitable for use in transmission or gear-box cases.</p> |
