An elongate L-shaped reinforcement (18) is extended longitudinally within the roof side region (12) of a front pillar. One of the sections (24) on the long side of the reinforcement is fixed within the roof side region. The other section (26) at the short side of the reinforcement is adjustable and is introduced widely into the base region (14) of the pillar.
