1,271,762. Valves; brakes. TRW Inc. 16 June, 1970 [21 Nov., 1969], No. 29154/70. Headings F2F and F2V. [Also in Division G6] A pressure compensating valve comprises a housing having a bore, an annulus A1 circumscribing the bore, and a hollow pintle valve movable in the bore and having a plurality of orifices 50 disposed transversely in the pintle valve 12 which steadily decrease in area away from a loading spring 19. Fluid from a pump driven by the wheels of a vehicle passes around the annulus A1 to the brakes, through an orifice 50 to one side 30 of the pintle valve, and also to the other side 30 via a passage P3. When the brakes are applied, a throttle valve (not shown ) in the braking circuit closes causing extra fluid to be passed into passage P2. The increase in pressure causes the valve 12 to move to the right progressively exposing smaller areas of orifices 50. A greater pressure drop in the valve is thereby caused having the effect of moving the valve further to the right. The braking of the wheels decreases the speed of the pump and has the effect of moving the valve to the left.
|
