A method for continuously mixing water-absorbent polymer particles (I) with liquids or other particles with the particles (I) moving under their own weight in the direction of product flow (DPF), in which at least some of the mixed material receives an impetus against the DPF from the rotational motion of at least one mixing tool on a rotating shaft. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of water-absorbent polymer particles by mixing the particles with post-crosslinker(s) which may be in the form of a solution.
