METHOD DETECTING MULTIDIMENSIONAL SYMBOL AND SOFT DECISION THEREOF

A method for detecting a multi-dimensional symbol and a soft decision employing the same are provided to enable parallel processing by independently performing soft decision on each bit of a symbol. Reception symbol vectors and estimated channel models are received from a demodulator and a channel estimator(S110). The first transmittable arbitrary multi-dimensional symbol is initialized(S120). The rate of change of a distance function with respect to each symbol constituting the first multi-dimensional symbol is calculated(S130). A certain symbol having a negative rate of change is selected and updated in the opposite direction to the calculated rate of change(S140). It is checked whether the first multi-dimensional symbol setting step, a step of calculating the rate of change, and a updating step should be repeatedly performed(S150). When the repeated operation is not performed, the second multi-dimensional symbol including the updated symbol is outputted(S160).
