<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents degradation of fixability of a fixing device due to the power shortage and is improved in a power factor by suppressing an inrush current to a heating member such as a heater, thereby reducing a conducted interference with a commercial power supply. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a battery element 202 supplying direct-current power to an object member in a printer engine 121 performing an image forming operation; a voltage step-down circuit 207 receiving a power from a commercial power supply 200 and supplying a current to one heater of a fixing device 121; and an engine control unit 205 including a power-supply selecting function for selecting the commercial power supply 200 or the battery element 202 or both of the commercial power supply 200 and the battery element 202, as the power supply of the voltage step-down circuit 207 and a power control function for instructing switching by a power-supply selecting means, on the basis of an operation mode or the temperature of the fixing device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
