PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus which reduces the power consumption when reproducing data recorded in a recording medium and transmitting the data to another apparatus.

SOLUTION: A detection section 601 detects an access point. When the detection section 601 detects the access point 23, a power supply control section 604 controls supply of power so as to supply the power to a recorder block for reproducing the data transmitted to the material using apparatus (another apparatus) from a removable medium via the access point 23 and controls the supply of the power so as not to supply the power to the recorder block 52 in the other cases. The above technology can be applied to, e.g. camcorders 21.
