<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire capable of changing the time displaying direction to the suitable direction, according to sleeping position in order to promote comfortable sleep for a sleeper without depending on the sleeping position. <P>SOLUTION: The luminaire 1 provided with a clock mechanism comprises the time display means, arranged visibly displaying with numeric figures; and the display direction switching means 3 for changing to the most suitable direction, according to the user's viewing point. The time display means is constituted of displays, the numeric figures of which display the time so as to be substantially perpendicular to each other, with two displays 9 and 10 of 7 segment displays.
