<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the assembling and disassembling of a backlight unit while reducing the number of components. <P>SOLUTION: This backlight unit 1 is provided with: a light guide plate 15; a lamp unit 16 for supplying light to the light guide plate; and a chassis 19 for housing and unitizing the light guide plate 15 and the lamp unit 16.
