INFORMATION PROVIDING SYSTEM, INFORMATION PROVIDING METHOD, AND THE LIKE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system and an information providing method, in which profiles or personal networks (personal relations) of participants of an academic conference or the like can be easily and rapidly acquired to facilitate interaction between the participants.

SOLUTION: A terminal device includes an information acquisition means for acquiring participant identification information from a holding medium that is a card unique to each participant, an information transmitting means for transmitting profile request information containing the acquired participant identification information to an information providing device through a communication means, an information receiving means for receiving profile information transmitted from the information providing device, and an information display means for displaying the received profile information. The information providing device includes an information receiving means for receiving the profile request information transmitted from the terminal device, an information acquisition means for acquiring profile information associated with participant identification information contained in the received profile request information from a participant information storage means, and an information transmitting means for transmitting the acquired profile information to the terminal device through a communication means.
