PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can collect a recording medium without each arranged member of the printer being affected. SOLUTION: The printer 1 is equipped with a feed roller 2 which supplies and collects the recording medium 10, a platen 3, a recording unit 4, a calculating means which calculates a tip position of the recording medium 10 retreated from a cutting position on the basis of the number of revolution of the feed roller 2, and a pressure contact unit 8. The pressure contact unit 8 has a pressure contact roller 5 opposed to an outer peripheral face of the platen 3, an energizing means which energizes the pressure contact roller 5 to the platen 3, and a moving means which moves the pressure contact roller 5 along the platen 3 in conjunction with an inverse rotation RD of the platen 3 when the calculating means calculates that the tip of the recording medium 10 retreated by an inverse rotation of the feed roller 2 reaches a space between the platen 3 and the pressure contact roller 5. By the printer 1, the tip of the recording medium 10 is retreated while being in pressure contact by the pressure contact roller 5 together with the platen 3.
