PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a proper lamp replacement time to be grasped without providing a special mechanism. SOLUTION: The data of an electronic shutter speed is successively stored in a RAM 23 while performing an automatic light modulating process. Then, an operation process regarding a low-speed electronic shutter speed is performed every six minutes. When the rate of the low-speed electronic shutter speed is larger than a specified rate CS, a specified value (=10) is added to an arrangement pr(j). When the rate of the low-speed electronic shutter speed is large in the connection situation of a video scope in past 6 times, expiration of the life span of a lamp 32 is determined, and character information indicating the replacement of the lamp 32 is displayed on a monitor 70.
